Defending Asylum for Survivors of Gender Based Violence
Languages: English & Spanish
Room: 202
Throughout the country, we have witnessed an attack against the rights of women and immigrants. Last year, the Trump Administration tried to close the door to women fleeing domestic violence and other harms in their communities. As a result, women, girls, and LGBTQ people arriving at our border seeking the protection of asylum are being turned away, and many others seeking this protection in the courts are being denied and deported. That is why we as women immigrants and our allies are fighting! Join this struggle and learn how to lead a campaign to encourage your local government to support its local residents seeking asylum, to speak out against the federal government decision to deny asylum protection for survivors of domestic violence, and to demand that justice and refuge be restored for women, girls, and the LGBTQ community seeking protection from life-threatening violence.
