Last fall the immigrant rights movement in Las Vegas had a major victory. The Las Vegas police department and the Sherrif’s department both pulled out of the 287g program and announced they would no longer honor ICE detainers. This was a big win in the fight to stop collaboration between local police and ICE in Las Vegas, and a step forward in keeping immigrant families together and making communities safer.
