In order to build a domestic workers movement than can win the changes we need we must dramatically increase our power. More power will come when 1) we grow our numbers by thousands and those thousands are active in organizing others and in advocating with employers and government to win benefits and respect; and 2) we have the money we need to support our organization and campaigns – to pay rent for office space, hire experts in media, law, technology, etc to work for us, and especially to hire domestic workers to work full-time to build our movement. This workshop will cover the crucial issues of organizing workers to be dues paying members – what is working and what are the challenges – so that we can begin to build the people and financial resources we need to grow and win.
